“It’s surprising how many communities are unprepared for climate change,” said Kevin Hanna, a professor at the University of British Columbia. “We’re setting ourselves up for more interesting weather.”

Up until this past year, the impact of climate change has been fairly minor here in the PNW compared to the rest of the country. Unfortunately, El Niño changed all that this year. What's been rather amazing is to watch the trees wilt in August and then start to drop their leaves well before the Fall season. You go down some streets and they are littered with fall leaves like its Oct. Apparently, the water table has dropped significantly and the trees' roots have been left high and dry.
