The Roanoke guy would have had no problem walking up behind them with a knife just as did with a gun and stabbing them to death. Or he could have used a ball bat, crowbar, or ran them over with his car. If he didn't have a gun, he wouldn't have just given up.

Safe stabbings? Reminds me of the Safe Sex campaign. In 1968 there was one girl in the whole inner city high school who got pregnant. After the safe sex campaign they needed to open an entire alternative high school for all the pregnant high school girls. No guns campaign does nothing but remove guns from people who've obtained them responsibly and who handle them responsibly. No guns = more bombings or some other alternative. The first time I saw back to the land hippies with guns I was shocked. Then the mother earthers told me about all the visits they had had from people with ill intent. Granted it was 45 years ago but things don't change that much.
