I posted here earlier that Firefox and Thunderbird had issues on my laptop, both very slow to open, sometimes
hanging and slowing down the system. Here's what I did:
I ran Windows cleanup and set it to remove everything extraneous on the system including old windows
install files no longer in use. This took quite awhile. I normally use ccleaner to clean up the hard drive, but
the Windows cleanup went beyond that. Next I took a look at all the programs that were set to automatically
run at startup and turned several of them off, including a couple of Adobe Photoshop related files and a Bonjour program from Apple which is associated with itunes.
I had to search around in control panel to get this done but after a couple of hours, it seemed to help.
The computer is not exactly speedy but Firefox and Thunderbird now open faster with no 'hangs'.
Fingers crossed that this will do it.
