data stored at their end, not on my device, seems would be most secure
It's all a matter of preference and in this case I lean toward the device based solution, however I'm not totally against the cloud and I keep all my email there. :)

Just to be clear: You will need to download a browser extension to each device you want to use the tool on, but that download is free, and has nothing to do with Premium/non-Premium.

Your point about LastPass not being able to see your stuff is correct. Technically, your passwords are stored in the LastPass servers, but only someone with your master password can decode those encrypted passwords. LastPass does not know your password! (So if you forget what it is, you are out of luck)
