I think you're confusing markers with mutations.

Either way, the article you cited provided no evidence, whatsoever of any genetic determination of sexual orientation. You can't just say, "All gay people have this condition, therefore this condition causes or in any way influences whether a person is gay." It doesn't work that way.

I/O claiming gay has to be genetic, you'd be better off using the term biological. That would leave the door open to a much wider range of causes or influences.

Like for instance, exposure to unusual hormone levels (or other things) during the baby's development in the womb or during development in puberty. It could even be related to exposure to other things ... off the wall stuff like certain foods, chemicals, viruses. We know DHA & EPA (omega-3 fatty acids) promote healthy brain development in babies. We know other things can be harmful to developing babies. There are probably lots of things that affect development we don't know about.

Re sexuality, I also think there is a role for imprinting at the start of puberty. I'm sure I was imprinted at about age 11 by a girl 5 years older who lived near my grandparents ... she resembled Mary Ann on Gilligans Island though this was before that show was on. I can still remember what she looked like one day when she visited us. Without meaning to or doing anything she made a lasting impression on me.
