My parents told the story that when I was little and in kindergarden when we were learning the letters of the alphabet that for some reason I didn't understand that the B letter had a sound of "ba". No matter what they did I would just say I don't get it, I don't understand, why is the B sound "ba"? Who made that decision, why did they make it "ba"why didn't they make it something else?. They told me that they were completely exasperated by my refusal to believe that the B sound was "ba".

My son just started a new job. It's with a very large company and he is a finance geek. This division does like thirteen billion dollars worth of sales and employs thousands of people. As a recent college grad on his second job he was constantly complaining to me that all of their procedures and formalities made no sense at all. He was constantly haranguing about why this form was this and why they did things this way and how come they use that terminology. I told him that the B sound is "ba".
