Wow Jurgis, I'm going to frame that post and put it on my wall. My rules have definitely evolved the last year or so (although the sample size is not huge :)). In particular I have more difficulty using an incremental trading system. In part this is due to my preference for situations that should play out in the short term (at least for now), such as the O&Gs and my short positions. O&G is a long game as well, and I guess as a general rule I don't like to hold anything I wouldn't be comfortable locking away for 5 years or more. But from a return standpoint I am increasingly inclined to take profits quickly vs deal with short term price risk. Apart from these what I guess could be termed volatility + value plays I am looking at buying into more microcap banks and techs. I am very much in the corners in this market. I need more sectors to deflate like oil to broaden the menu.
