1 - No our infrastructure is not deteriorating at a quick rate. 2 - If it was, it would not be because of lack of money being spent on infrastructure since that has climbed. 3 - If it hadn't climbed it wouldn't be because of starvation of funds, but rather because of other priorities. Governments in the US spend over $6tril/year.

If you use google news to look for "bridge collapse" right now here's what I find: - Two Indian Institute of Technology professors held guilty in bridge collapse - New Zealand - Investigation launched into bridge collapse - I-10 - Work on washed out portion of bridge - Railroad bridge in Iowa - Rural Montana bridge collapse - NJ Collapse under the weight of a crane on Hwy 519 - Yancey County, NC - Partial Bridge Collapse The point here, if it is not obvious to you, is that significant, major bridge collapses in the US are few and far between. There is a road near me that I commonly ride my motorcycle on that has old wooden bridges. Sure, they could collapse. Everyone who drives the cutoff knows it. It is okay. We don't need them anyway. You can always spend more money on infrastructure. But the idea that we have huge infrastructure problems is made up nonsense. The Mackinac Bridge in Michigan is currently being replaced at a cost of $4 Billion. No wonder we can't afford infrastructure. That bridge should not cost 4 billion - $12.50 for every man, woman and child in the United States. They ought to install toll boots for five years and then spend whatever they collect on fixing the existing one.
