I forget if I have to pay for electricity at my workplace, but even if I did, it'd probably be cheaper than charging in my own garage thanks to my tiered electric rates.

A friend of a friend purchased a plug in hybrid here in the Valley and the deal with PG&E is he now has all his electric at tier one rates. He doesn't even charge the car up at home. He just fills the tank. Talk about taking advantage of the idiotic CA bureaucracy.

But to be honest, if I ever went electric, I would get a Tesla. After test-driving that baby, I was hooked. Performance, luxury, and the fact that it's an electric car. I might even be able to take the carpool lane with just one passenger.

Well, sure, but that's a different class automobile...and by the way, long range trips become somewhat of a problem with a Tesla...

The (on this thread) much maligned Volt has become a fine car...i would consider one if it was towable.
