Alex, Christine, and All, Reminds me of when the 55 mph speed limit went into effect on New Year 1973 or 1974 and I was driving on the freeway. At midnight, all the cars slowed to 55 mph and immediately went to the two far right-hand lanes, such had we California freeway veterans been indoctrinated with slower traffic keeping to the two far right-hand lanes. The three left-hand lanes of the freeway were totally empty of cars! This went on for about 20 minutes, with no one venturing to the left-hand lanes. Finally one car broke ranks and headed for the extreme left-hand lane and others followed. But for a while there, all of the cars stayed in the two right-hand lanes. I wish we'd had video cameras then. Holly D.
