"I'm guessing that (unless he blows up) Trump will start pulling Blacks, Latinos and Dems in greater numbers than have previously voted R."

i'm guessing Trump has already blown up, and will be lucky to get 10% of the Latino-Black-Asian-Native American vote, and is a few words away from being there with GLBT and Muslim voters.

"It seems that all these voters have something profound in common, and I'm trying to discern what the characteristics of that mindset are that makes him so appealing. For example, evangelicals know darn well that Trump is not a practicing Christian but at least a quarter of them say he's their candidate."

idiocy?
There is no way Trump pulls in people of color. They hate him. Really and truly hate him. I've never seen my students so passionate against a candidate- and it crosses races- Indians, Hispanics, blacks, Asians- all of them are disgusted by Trump.

I don't think he's going to get the Hispanics.

Donald Trump's net favorability rating among Hispanics: -51

You missed one group. Liberal dems. None of us like him.

Yes, I liked his word choice of "intoxicating", too.

The thing that most intrigues me right now about Trump is that if you study his polls (all of them), you find that he appeals to almost all categories of voters in nearly the same percentages. Doesn't make much difference whether it be evangelicals, conservative Reps., moderate Reps., college educated or just high school educated. Same with income brackets. He pulls 25 to 30% in each category.

It seems that all these voters have something profound in common, and I'm trying to discern what the characteristics of that mindset are that makes him so appealing. For example, evangelicals know darn well that Trump is not a practicing Christian but at least a quarter of them say he's their candidate.

With that in mind, I'm guessing that (unless he blows up) Trump will start pulling Blacks, Latinos and Dems in greater numbers than have previously voted R.
