"Do you think the voters are happy with how politics has been working"

Politics haven't been working. There is a group of people who don't want the government to work. They were elected to tear down the government. There is also a group which, before Obama had a chance to sleep in the presidential bed, decided they would pass nothing, cuz he was...something.... Kansan? I forget. Look it up. Also, that compromise is a 7 letter word beginning with f and ending with him. I get the feeling things will change under Hillary. Compromise will end with her.

If people want politics to work, elect politicians who want to make it work.

<<<< Best I can tell at the moment is that the Trump folk, in so far as there is a single theme, want a strong man who'll keep those feared/hated "others" at bay.>>>>

But that makes no sense when you think of Trumps positions on such things as the trade agreements and single payer health care, legalizing drugs and a new tax on the wealthy to pay down the debt. And as you say his character flaws. That makes a lot of baggage for conservatives to overlook.

I think the entire landscape has changed as membership in the two parties continues to shrink and more and more people are saying they are Independents. That too is suggestive that people are angry at the way government is working - angry at both parties. Does that anger manifest itself in many ways? Of course and there are lots of reasons people are supporting who they are. But underlying that support is the big angryness ( I suppose that is not a word - but the meaning is clear) at politicians. ........In closing I also think that has much to do with Hillary's weakness. AND, why that she finally said she was sorry is so important to her prospects. How much damage was done before she could say "sorry" - hard to say? If there is nothing more I think she recovers.
