Micron To Sell Most of Custom Unit

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Micron Electronics Inc. said Monday it agreed to sell 90 percent of its contract manufacturing subsidiary to Cornerstone Equity Investors for $271 million.

The sale of Micron Custom Manufacturing Services Inc. is expected to close in the first quarter of 1998, Micron Electronics said.

The unit makes custom printed circuit boards, memory modules and other products for the computer networking, telecommunications and computer system industries. It has operations in Nampa; Durham, N.C.; Penang, Malaysia; and Colfontaine, Belgium.

New York-based Cornerstone Equity Investors specializes in sponsoring management buyouts of technology, retail and health care companies.

Micron Electronics, a personal computer manufacturer based in Nampa, Idaho, is majority owned by semiconductor maker Micron Technology Inc.
