after a few weeks no one will use it except for some weekend morning bike riders. It's 1700 ft long who's gonna carry groceries that far. and those bikes riders have no where else to ride.

typical liberal feel good nonsense. we really need to break away from these idiots. giving nukes to Iran and everything else. I guess you can't say anything bad about Iran in Calif colleges now.

A railroad bridge built about 1890 over the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie burned in 1974 and sat unused and falling apart for about 20 years...... Through the efforts of civic minded people, the bridge was turned into the Walkway Over the Hudson, the longest footbridge in the world and built largely with donated money.... It has turned into a huge success drawing about 750,000 visitors a year and has become an object of pride for the area..... It is free except for privileged parking. Restaurants and bicycle rentals have sprung up on both sides of the river and the view is fantastic..... Volunteers maintain it and keep it clean .......and it open for pedestrians, pet dogs (owners do the cleanup), joggers, bicycles, wheelchairs, and in skates....skateboards are not allowed. It cost about 45 million for the conversion. I was personally against it because I thought it was an eyesore and dangerous for about 20 years...but I am glad it was done and I am also proud of it....
