But we're setting quite the double standard for ourselves and our "ally" in the Middle East. I don't really trust Iran, but why would Iran ever trust us?
Same reason why most other nations on Earth trust us and don't pursue nuclear weapons for themselves.

Unfortunately, the Powers That Be in Iran are vested in portraying America as The Great Satan. That won't change even after the Iran deal goes through.

Once Iran gets the nuke, it'll be too late even if they never intend on actually using it.

By the way, once Obama succeeds in empowering Iran with the nuke, he'll then work on saving Lil' Kim:
