When it is done in Canada it's terrible, But in the US it seems to be acceptable. The same Americans who criticize and voice objections to Canadian Tar sand mining. Say nothing when it creates jobs on their home territory. Others are in the planning stages when oil prices climb again. What term comes to mind ? hypocrisy ?
Not directed personally. But rather at the promoters of this environmental movement. Before criticizing the practises of other countries. They should first sweep their own door step. There is a constant barrage of American celebrities like Leonardo Decraprio coming up telling us how we should live. Yet they don't try to curtail American coal mining, or shut down American wind turbines which kill some 300,000 birds annually. Just a couple of examples there are more.
The environmental movement is a farce in it's self. Where some make a fortune by stirring the emotions of average Joe Public.

I just returned from a trip to the oil sands then across the prairies to Winnipeg and back to BC. The condition of Reclaimed lands in the sands region after oil extraction is better than before the mining began. The soil is clean not impregnated with oil. Grass is growing and animals are feeding and thriving on it. There were Bison grazing on reclaimed lands. But that is the part environmentalists don't tell you.

Here is images of reclaimed lands. If a person goes to look for your self. It is exactly what you can see. There is also Antelope, Bear, Foxes and other animals to be seen if you look that are doing just fine.
The mining pits they show is like a farmer plowing a field. At first the overturned soil is unsightly. But the finished product is great when the crops come in. So it is with the oil sands.
