So you're seeing the balloon like structure as an outpost.........not a population center.

No reason it can't be a population center.

Ted, have you seen this? First time I heard of this hazing death, or even of this fraternity:

Lawyer pledges vigorous defense in frat pledge hazing death

Apparently Pi Delta Psi is an Asian-American fraternity. These guys initially tried to cover up an injury due to hazing, which may be the reason why it took two hours before the poor guy got to a hospital.

This incident reminds me of the indie flick Better Luck Tomorrow, which was directed by Justin Lin before he became famous directing the Fast and Furious 3-6 movies. And that indie flick in turn was based on the Sunny Hills High School murder in Orange County, CA.

The thing that struck me about the movie was that at no point did the characters ever make a conscious decision to descend into a life of depravity, crime, and later murder. To be sure, all of the choices they made were completely voluntary, but at no point did any boy ask himself, "Hmmm, should I really be doing this?" Every action they took just came out almost by instinct as a result of their prior actions, boredom, and peer pressure.

It makes me think that the decisions the frat brothers made in trying to cover up the hazing incident came almost naturally to them, that they didn't think once about getting the poor victim some urgent medical care until it was way too late.

It's kind of a haunting statement about human nature.
