Neocons like Dick Cheney, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton do make up the consensus foreign policy view in Washington.

It's difficult to argue with that.

It was certainly a big part of the reelection of George W Bush in spite of his unpopularity. Billing yourself as a "war president" has always attracted a group of useful idiots.

Although neocon foreign policy has created many problems for America and imposed enormous costs, I doubt an anti-neocon candidate like Bernie Sanders can help most Americans understand this within the next 14 months.

The neocon consensus has survived decades of obvious and painful failures, so changing this as the consensus foreign policy is going to be much like a drunk trying to remain sober. There's likely to be a number of relapses along they way.
