There was a story on ABC news tonight about a promotion that Time Magazine is running. They solicited suggestions from their readership for "People of the Century". I'm not a subscriber so maybe I got that wrong. They delineated five categories. Heroes and Adventurers, Builders and Titans, Scientists and Healers, Entertainers and Artists, and Leaders and Revolutionaries. They already have a winner in all five categories. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, military hero and leader who modernized Turkey after the First World War and who died in 1938. Time has 2 1/2 million letters on paper and 2 million messages on the Internet. Time's readers have him ahead in all 5 categories. I thought that was interesting, that he would be ahead of the people whom the western world would suggest. I am disappointed that the Turkish consortium was put off two more months. I am really interested in seeing what comes of that. We will have to wait until February to see. There was a news release today saying that SK has rejected LLE's hostile takeover offer. It had already accepted Philip's friendly offer. No mention of the January stockholders meeting. Charles
