I'm curious where you've worked to have come to the conclusion that breaking the law is the same thing as taking on the risk of an investment. Operating a profitable business can be difficult enough without needing to take on gratuitous risks wholley unrelated to operating your business.

Major corporations have employee "hot lines" for ethical issues. It was not that way when I started - but things were night and day different by the time I retired. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. We have the GM ignition switch issue as an economic guide line. GM killed people - but then VW committed perhaps a worse crime - more CO2!
