>> Human emission of CO2 clearly contributes to the world getting warmer.

That's kind of where I tend to draw the line.

We do know it is getting warmer. We do know that logically one could conclude CO2 contributes to warming. We don't know if it matters, and neither do we know if it does matter, whether there is really anything that needs to be done about or can be.

Most importantly, though, we really don't know whether warming is manmade or not. Or perhaps it is a little bit but not enough to matter. And this is where it gets really messy, because there is a lot of money on the line if it is shown that manmade global warming is actually a thing, whereas just plain warming might be cause for concern but difficult or impossible to do anything about.

The science is very cloudy at this point because there is a lot of money on side of the issue and not much on the other. As a result, the science which claims there is manmade warming has become a playground of borderline statistical practices (sometime outright lies) and potentially fraudulent claims.

It is like everything else, from health care to the war on drugs: Once government gets involved the truth gets lost in the politics.
