The UK has a strong tradition of finding top talent from their trade schools. When we were on vacation, in 2004, a British couple occupied the condo on the floor directly above us. The husband had recently retired from Metal Box, one of the UK's major, multi-billion $, global, corporations at that time.

He was hired right out of trade school with a certificate in accounting. Over a long career, he was posted all over the world, as they groomed him for a top management position. He eventually become the company's equivalent of comptroller in an American corporation. A very high executive post, only slightly below the CFO (Chief Financial Officer).

After retirement, he was named to the small, very select, board of trustees who managed the Metal Box one billion $ in pension money, which was when we met. Enjoyed several vigorous brainstorming sessions with him about stocks. Particularly energy, which has always been my specialty.

Obvious from the onset was this was an unusually perceptive, highly practical, manager with exceptional judgement. Was honored that he and his wife invited Sue and I to their "country home" in the UK. We were in the UK in 2007. Unfortunately, had lost their contact information the year before. Bet that country house was awesome.

Sorry to run on. Point is I sincerely hope America puts more resources into educational institutions for the skilled trades. We have a severe shortage developing there.

Cheers,

Iso
