DRRISK, I was down in Beaumont, Texas working in a chemical plant last week. In the evening after dinner, I went over to either the local CompUSA or Circuit City Store (can't remember which) in a mall to browse. I asked the same question of the computer hardware area manager, and he confirmed the same- it's selling well.

Actually if manfacturing costs drop, then CREAF could drop the price of the Encore-DVD and still maintain a healthy profit margin. That would be an ideal scenario in terms of demand....

Sincerely,

Doug F.

DrRisk, can you clear up some questions I have about the Encore kit?

I'm seriously tempted to place an order with CompUSA, but I'm not sure what, exactly, is included in the kit. Apparently you do not get Surround Sound unless you buy a special receiver/amplifier. Does Creative sell this as part of a Cambrige speaker kit?

I've read the specs for the Encore kit at creative's website, and they say that the Dxr2 has VGA input and output connectors on the back panel. They also say that a SVGA card with 2MB is part of the minimum system requirements. Does the Dxr2 card replace my current video card, or do they get connected somehow? If they get connected, is there a special connector required on the video card, or is it through external cabling?

Are there any other special requirements that aren't mentioned in the specs, which might make the Encore kit less desirable? (For instance, based on their advertising, I thought I would get six speaker jacks for surround sound, not one jack which has to go to a not-included receiver.)

Thanks a lot.
Doug.
