Larry, I am not sure if you follow the thread with my name on it. A few of us are talking about the flattening yield curve for about 2 months now:

larry, is an inverted yield curve when interest rates follow an inverted curve? btw, that is why a laughed at mike dell, the carnival huckster, when he said asia's crisis was a good thing. he said that most of their mfg is in asia (cheaper) and only 6% of their sales were in asia. while true, this is about 10%of the story. the other 90%, duly neglected by mike b/c it isn't dell hype, is that dell's current customers have exposure to asia as do many of their vendors and customers. an overall slowdown WILL hurt dell.

what a spinmeister. even funnier is that people believe him ;-)

Larry, I have been watching the yeild curve for the last few months. It is getting flatter as time goes on. The trend seems to be excellerating. Wall Street believes the Japanese have been selling their short term bonds recently. Also the current account deficit has declined by 50 billion $'s. Wall street seems to think the Koreans have caused most of this change.

I certainly am not an expert in this area but I don't think we have seen anything in the past like foreign governments helping to flatten our yeild curve. Maybe I am wrong with this perception. Maybe it does not make any difference who is causing the flatting of the curve and what is important is that it is flatting.

Confused to say the least.
