I've seen the video of his comments, and he was very careful to avoid anything that might remotely be construed as a misrepresentation. I certainly find it to be less problematic than going to a doctor and being told I should be taking statins for high cholesterol, not because of statistics that suggest it but because the doctor has been sold on the concept by drug reps.
