I must agree that the sum of the parts in these cases is always greater than the whole but if this is the direction of America look out for personal freedoms especially for those who are politically incorrect. No question about it the socialist and the fascist meet on the dark side. I am ver proud of the way MSFT has stood up to this crap. It still must bewilder Billy Boy - these are his "friends" who are skewering him.

As part of the settlement with DOJ, the IE and OS should be in the
same entity so that the OS-unit is still operable.

Do you actually beleive that the browser is required for the os to function properly? If a file is required for the os to function properly wether it's a dll file has ie in the name or whatever, it is part of the os. Just because a file is needed by ie doesn't mean it is part of ie. Just because they put it on the same disk or in the same directory doesn't make it a part of ie. Just because they say it's part of ie doesn't make it part of ie.

Just my opinions. I'm curious to see how this will play out. It could take quite a while though and if the preliminary injuction holds, it could delay win98 as long as it takes to get through the courts. This (IMO) is the biggest reason that slapping judge and doj in the face was a rather large mistake. They (ms) will want to get this taken care of as fast as possible.

The comment(from ms) about how dependent the whole country is on win98 getting released on time just shows more about the monopolistic power that ms has. If you have so much control of the whole economy that a minor delay in an upgrade (that isn't even required)will cripple the economy, you have too much power.
