Right, Reg, it's just not fair, and we all know the Microsoftese definition of fair. Or do I have to dig that up again, the Netscapers never called about that PR position.

Personally, as a parent of 4 and 6 year olds, "fair" is one of those words I'd happily live without. As for Bob Dole and Gary Reback, Mr. Fischofer has assured us that your friends in Redmond will smoke those pikers in no time, now that they've put their mind to it. Somehow, the "compliance with a middle finger" thing seems sort of impolitic, but who's to say? Mere mortals cannnot understand the complexity of OS/browser integration, only Microsoft and their twin prophets, Dowd and Middleton. Uninstall means what Microsoft says it means, sort of like context dependent help I guess.

Cheers, Dan.

>>> 1.) You don't have to show preference to one company in order to attempt to legislate the
market.

I *did* qualify my statement.

>>> 2.) The DOJ/courts are showing preference to MSFT competitors. At no other time in US history
has the courts attempted to design a product for a vendor, against its will, in a technology it does
not understand.

Are you sure of this statement? I sure am no legal expert, and I suspect that you are overstepping your own understanding of the legal precedent with this statement, unless if you are simply quoting someone else to whom you make no reference. Also, inferring that they do not understand the technology is a blanket statement that I don't think is true. Don't you think that there are any software developers on the DOJ team? It seems clear that they have a pretty sophisticated understanding of the issues, and probably have a reasonable understanding of what a DLL is, etc.

>>> 3.) There is significant demand for a "whole product". Read "Inside the Tornado," or just ask the
guys at the local software store/OEM. People want a combined solution.

Yes, but there is significant demand for a non-integrated product as well.

Reggie or should I say "Man of the People",

"If so, then I want the DOJ to split your company up and force them to offer non-competitive products, for they have more market share and money than I - and that's just not fair. Why isn't your company's products design dictated by the DOJ in order to level the playing field for RCM? If MSFT's loses this, I am going to request the same corporate welfare. Anybody who is doing better then me has an unfair advantage, and I would demand that the DOJ "level the playing field" so that I can surpass them.

Now I just have to save up my allowance in order to pay for Bob Dole adn Gary Reback:-)"

For a guy on the "winning side" you sure are sounding shaky at the moment. Suddenly the business world isn't "fair"?! "Business is war", must be a conditional statement to you; only applying to MSFT tactics of course. Better re-read your Sun Tzu chapter concerning "superior forces". Microsoft is like a spoiled brat that has finally pushed Dad into getting the strap out.

You are going to request the same corporate welfare? While you are in town use your influence to repeal that annoying Income Tax Amendment as well.

Just calm down and relax old boy. Do not let this DOJ thing ruin your year. Pretend its only a reboot, reinstall of Microsoft instead of Windows.

Cheers,

Norm
