From Thunderbird main screen:

Tools>Address Book

From Address Book screen:

Tools>Export

Transfer the '.LDIF' file to your laptop and do the same thing replacing 'Tools>Export' with 'Tools>Import'.

You could also use Mozbackup and select only 'Address Books' from the 'Components Selection' screen, backing up from the desktop, copying the resultant .pcv file to the laptop and then using Mozbackup's restore option there.
