Thanks for the reply. I would like to discuss a typical topology of a median to a large data center. IMO large servers will need to be on switch ports while disk arrays will be connected to hubs(then connected to FC/AL ports). My understanding of FC hubs in a topology such as this could be stand alone units as well as embedded in JBOD and RAID. Have you considered embedding G2 into JBOD and RAID?
While I agree with you most small FC setups will not need switches, their device count is considerably lower than 127 and traffic between servers(probably PCs) and disks are small and brief in duration between each pair of nodes. When servers are made up of servers other than PCs, a need for switches increases. I do belief the current estimate of 1B FC switches market is conservative.
