Hi Cleve! Could be 2 possibilities I can think of off the top of my head. 1. WOTD could be listed under another name in the phone book. This is possible, but there's another scenario that could be more likely. 2. WOTD could be a relatively new company (newer than the publication date of the phone book). In my opinion, this is the stronger possibility. A previous Press Release said the merger candidate is... "an acquisition-driven western oil and tire distribution corporation." If WOTD is "acquisition-driven," and the $3.5 Million tire company is the "first acquisition," it could be that WOTD is a new corporation developed expressly for acquisitions of this nature. That's why I mentioned before that I think WOTD (or somebody) has been working on this idea (acquisition of tire companies) for some time. This is probably the culmination of their research into this market. This idea just sounds too well thought out to have just popped into somebody's head on short notice. If WOTD is a new company with a well thought out plan, it would also make sense that they have attracted experienced people as indicated in the Dec 16 Press Release: "This team includes well-respected individuals with vast experience in accounting, public relations and Wall Street finance, in addition to extensive experience within the industry itself." You have to have the right people to make a program work. It sounds to me like they have put together a management team that probably knows what they are doing in the tire and oil industry all the way through to Wall Street. Seems like a good combination of individuals (or what I call a good "brain-trust"). Jack Arnold noted in today's Press Release, "The pace of progress has thus far exceeded my expectations." In a new business, things can happen quickly because of the high level of enthusiasm and energy. If this IS a new business, I think we could see things develop much faster than normal for that very reason. Makes me look forward to the 1Q of 1998! This is really quite an enjoyable puzzle. The information all seems to fit if I just read and re-read the press releases. For anyone interested, they are lined up nicely at the web site:cvia.com Cleve, let me know what you find out from CVIA. Maybe we can figure out some more. It's kind of fun, really. Please realize that much of this is my own conjecture. I don't intend for it to be accepted as fact. I can be wrong like anyone else. Everyone should draw their own conclusions from their own research and do only what they are comfortable with regarding their investment dollars. Best wishes, Brad
