Since I brought up the DAO problem here. I think I have the obligation to provide update information for this matter. The new firmware 2.02 for CDD3610 has been released by Philips. It will fix the DAO bug and choppy VCD playback problem. It has been reported (by 7110 user) that the same firmware can be applied to HP7110/7100i/e but I will recommend HP users to wait about 2 weeks to see if HP will release the official firmware upgrade for 7110/7100.

The new firmware can be download from Philips
km.philips.com

With the 2.02 firmware upgrade, the CDD3610 or HP7110 is now really the best EIDE CD-RW for the $350 to $450 price range. For SCSI, I will recommend Ricoh 6200S which also has excellent user feedback and similar price range.
