I think they get money from the payroll taxes as well. I don't think the premiums fully cover the cost. Government subsidized programs and activities can often crowd out private unsubsidized solutions.

What is your argument? These posts seem kind of circular. We know that Medicare is trillions of dollars in the hole from the Trustee's Report. That it cannot meet its obligations. Even som it is subsidized by privately insured persons as well as by future bow wowing to stay afloat. And there isn't much way to legally and sensibly escape the program when you turn 65.

So, what are you arguing about?
