Muizz,

I think Nortel are just setting out a new 10 year plan. I don't see any analysts getting excited near term as it is really an acknowledgement that the competition is making inroads into their market. However, they are big enough to assign massive human and financial resources to the new direction.

What it does confirm is the eventual replacement of the analog network by a flexible packet based system, designed for data but with provision for voice traffic.

Looks like the net-heads (shared packet switching) are winning the battle with the bell-heads (dedicated network or virtual switching). I am sure my terms are a bit rusty.

All just my humble opinion.
