sonki: WCOM - 1998 focus stock of UBS Securities

Thank you for your post. Where did you find this news item? I would like to post on the WCOM thread. This week Barrons has published a negative article on WCOM. That is the reason why the stock is down today. We have to be careful about these news items as the authors may be biased. The WCOM should not go down below $ 29 for the next two quarters before the merger is completed. Till that time the competition can produce negative news on the stock and the stock could be vulnerable.

I am still working on taking some losses in this so called year-end rally.

Regarding MSFT:

Editor of a news paper "Mother Jones" ( anti-business publication) in an interview with CNN-FN "digital Jam" made some unkind mention of MSFT as bullying Overseas corporations by raiding them to charge for software piracy. These raids are conducted by an overseeing agency which is represented by Novell, MSFT and other software companies. MSFT is alleged to be making underhanded negotiations with the companies without the knowledge of the other members of the Overseeing agency to its advantage.

Lot of these will come out of woodworks whether true or not as the Justice case continues.

Happy Holidays Sonki, it seems what we need (... nor am I joking) is a running positive/negative trend line of analysts' opinions similar to the put/call ratio. If there were such a thing it would be interesting to see how it crosses and recrosses put/call ratios on the stock and the stock price line. Analysts' recommendations are no better than sentiment readings, despite the three piece suits and suspenders... indeed stock price is only a minute by minute sentiment reading.

Wishing you and yours the best of holiday cheer.

Jim
