Lucent is no doubt a formidable competitor. The only way that MRV can compete with the giants is to concentrate in a smaller product line and do it well, at very low cost. I still maintain that MRV is a one stop shopping for doing simple LAN wiring between buildings or campus. I think that more than 50% of LAN jobs involves simple networking between PCs, servers, and RAID systems.

The products described in LU's 10-k are common amongst the big telco equipment companies......Nortel, Siemens, Alcatel, etc......No big deal as of now...they have little exposure to LAN stuff.....Most of the data transmission products sold are ATM products that are fault tolerant for backbones....ATM is used in many cellular backbones...HOWEVER, this is the WAN, not LAN......
