Applebees hit hard today cause of high labor costs, high opening costs and opening inefficencies and lower revenues at some units in the Rio Bravo Cantina chain... This is what RAIN has to watch out for along with other potholes. See Applebees earnings on various web sites for gory details.

Two visits to Woodfield unit on two days, Sat 12/20 and Monday 12/22.

Sat not so busy at 11:30 AM, better later when I left after a nice flat bread and chardonnay lunch on a Zebra stool, with tail. Boxes of Beanies on sale $6.99.
Monday wife went, busier than ever she said, had lunch at a table, good store volume, more Beanies on sale.

Watched busboy mixing tomato juice for the cocktail bar set ups...using V-8 and a restaurant type tomato juice can...but not the giant cans, just #10's size. Room for savings if bought in bigger sizes, but at least it was not standard grocery store stuff.

The salt and pepper shaker animals are going out the door and RAIN should make a nice profit on those...they are made in Indonesia...probable cost say about 1000 whatevers in Indonesia, or US $0.01. Retail $6.00. Nice markup getting even better now.
