There was almost no interest and not a great deal more in recent years. Denial is a very powerful thing. The refusal to accept the stark realities facing a rapidly declining empire- especially its cities - is one of the primary reasons collapse becomes inevitable.

If we elect a better president in 2016? Sure, that could slow the decline for awhile. Even provide a decade long pause. Such pauses occurred several times during the later stages of the Roman Empire. After which, the decline would resume
