* 1 STOCK - 1 WEEK * 12-22-97 Results It's lonely at the top. Alan, Tom, John Carr, and AT are the only ones of the group in the black. Everyone else is even or down....not a good start to the week. Hopefully it will get better. The "Santa rally" occurs within the last five trading days of the year and the first two days of January, and is usually good for a gain of 1.72 percent on average, according to market historian Yale Hirsch of the Hirsch Organization. I still don't feel comfortable about the market and my gut says to short everything -- Had decided to go with Santa, history and the strength in the semis and was going to take MCRL long (cringe) at tomorrow's open. I have, however, decided to follow my gut and short it at tomorrow's open instead. It has significant (50%) Asian exposure and is on the heels of a runup from its lows....it could still see some selling pressure with weakness as it did for a while today....at least I hope it does...still not sure I believe in Santa this year...the averages have bounced back some but the broader market is still not doing so well.
