<<how many ads have you
click on >>

One, a few months ago when I was buying a house and saw an ad for mortgage quotes. It was not of much use.

Generally I try to ignore them but it's hard if there is a lot of movement in the banner. Sometimes I turn off the "auto load graphics" feature, especially if I am in a predominantly text based site. Really speeds up surfing.

Then again, I am something of a crank when it comes to advertising. I have my two daughters trained to dive for the remote when the ads come on to push the Mute button. We also use Dale Baker's technique of taping a show then fast forwarding through the ads. 30 minute shows become 20 minute shows and suddenly you have all that extra time.

McNabbs- I am short YHOO and agree. I rarely look at ads and have never bought anything as a result. I think companies will stop throwing money at internet advertising unless they are confident it pays. Not enough research has been done on it, so no one wants to be left behind.

<< We are short YHOO in a big way and added to the position today! >>

YHOO will fall eventually. But it looks like a short squeeze is ruling the roost for the time being.

I seem to recall a large percentage of the small float was short this stock.
Anybody have current figures off the top of their heads?

My rule of thumb for shorting high fliers is decide on fair value, double it, and then maybe that's when you should START to scale in your position.

What's the consensus for YHOO's fair value? 10? 20? 30?
