Metta, that opinion piece is hilarious. Of course Obama prefers engagement to hostility. That was apparent from day one.

The problem is that Obama is making America even less relevant in world affairs than before.

Look at how utterly ineffective his war against ISIS has been.

Look at how the Middle East continues to spiral out of control as Obama jumps from one position to another.

Look at how Putin continues flexing his muscle and thumbing his nose at the international community.

Now with the Iran deal, Obama is going to give one of the most anti-American regimes a lot of clout. Will that make Iranians love us, or at least hate us less? Very doubtful, given how little respect they have for us.

Like I said, a policy of disengagement is one that I agree with. (If you care about Mr. Rooftop Garden, he also would agree with it.) But even that policy takes leadership, and I have not seen any coming from the Obama administration.

All he has are his lapdogs in the media trying desperately to carry his water.

Obama has set out to correct past foreign policy excesses and disasters, largely the product of imperial overreach, that can be traced to several generations of American leaders bent on the exercise of unilateral power. Within the spectrum of American state power, he has slowly shifted from the coercion of war, occupation, torture, and other forms of unilateral military action toward the more cooperative realm of trade, diplomacy, and mutual security—all in search of a new version of American supremacy.
absolutely laughable

Seriously, you must be smoking crack to swallow that propaganda without choking.

A verbose excuse for utter failure to lead....
