My impression is that these tests show what MST's real strategy is - to integrate all of their applications (Word, Excel, etc.) with their IE and Windows9X to access manuals, bug fixes, additional features (like clipart) and have the browser become the operating system with everyone essentially networked to MSFT. It would be fairly easy to charge on line for additional features, updates, etc. and eliminate middlemen resellers, packaging, shipping, printing costs, etc. However, if you could access the web through other browsers, it would cut into their monopoly. I think that is the real reason for not wanting in unintegrate the browser with Windows. (However, they probably will succeed in defeating the DOJ through political pressure, not by compliance.)
Still own the stock, but also INTU, INTC and SUNW. Have a Happy New Year all. Best wishes, Alice
