I don't see ANY way to hold gun manufacturers liable unless their product malfunctions and causes injury.

The key word there is "malfunction".

The same thing with a drug manufacturer. If the drug works as is specified I don't see any cause for action.

Everybody knows how a drug is supposed to work and how a gun is supposed to work and if they work the way they were intended to work they should NOT be liable for any damages caused by those products.

They got the cigarette companies because they LIED about their products. They said their products wouldn't hurt anybody and it came out that they LIED about that.
