Actually, the antitrust suit had little impact on IBM shares

My data only goes back to 1970 (the suit was initiated in January 1969) but it appears that IBM was essentially flat during the period and began rapid appreciation in 1982 once the suit was dropped. Of course, the 1970s weren't exactly a growth period for stocks in general and 1982 marked the start of the great bull market so I think it's difficult to make causal arguments here.
