re: Although all speeds to be equally hard to get, it does appear that AMD could be easily selling 50-100% more chips if they could produce that many.

I agree. I still have a worry though on how much AMD is actually making on these chips and if the strategy is still to capture the market share and then start bringing home the bacon after several quarters. I'll feel better when I know more about the .25 migration and the costs involved. (I don't think ramp up will be a disaster as the .35 though it may be slow to ensure there is no repeat)

Petz, re. not making 166 anymore
That would explain why the price has not dropped along with the 233mhz.
If my memory serves me well it may have even gone up a few dollars ,
Brian

Petz - News Flash - Compaq's AMD K6 PC is in the stores NOW!

I have seen a new Compaq Presario Model 4540 in the T-Zone (a computer superstore in Silicon Valley) sporting the AMD K-6, 233 MHz selling for about $1099.

There was one on display and three in boxes on the floor - each with the Compaq label and pre-printed with the AMD K-6 logo.

Another AMD success story!

Paul
