biz.yahoo.com Get this! Here is an upgrade from Buy to Strong Buy from H&Q on Micrel because current valuation is low and the stock has little downside risk. It also states that as a "high-performance analog company", Micrel is posied to benefit from consumer electronic sales increases. OK, fair enough, but how much of this is really based on facts, and is this really accurate? I do not know the business matters of Micrel well, but I can draw these comparisons with SMTC, which at least seems to be similar to Micrel: Price Micrel - $28 1/8 Semtech - $37 Market Cap - Micrel - $551M Semtech - $231.8M Earnings Per Share - Micrel - $0.70 Semtech - $1.69 P/E - Micrel - 39.11 Semtech - 21.52 Industry Ranking - Micrel Rank - 10th Last Qtr EPS - $0.21 This Qtr EPS - $0.23 Avg. Rec. - 1.2 Semtech Rank - 4th Last Qtr EPS - $0.52 This Qtr EPS - $0.55 Avg. Rec. - 1.0 HEY TOM CAT, THIS NEXT ONE'S FOR YOU. MEOWCH :o) Micro Linear Rank - 57th Last Qtr. EPS - $0.06 This Qtr. EPS - $0.06 Avg. Rec. - 2.3 So, what we have here is a company ranked lower in the industry, making less half the earnings per share, having twice the market capitalization, and sporting a P/E almost twice as high as SMTC's, yet it gets the upgrade today from H&Q. What it means is that this is either another BLATANT case of making the price move, or we on this thread are twice as smart as some of the analysts (although we know which ones we ARE NOT smarter than). Stu, If you simnply removed the word "easily" from your statement, I would line up in total agreement with your conclusion. Regards, JB P.S. Merry Christmas to THAT analyst, JP, Leeza, Stu, Pham, and everyone else on the thread. P.S.S. TOM CAT, you mangy, territorial, furball coughing, winner stock picking feline, even you deserve a wsh to have a very Meowchy Christmas! BTW, My 22 pound cat likes you :o)
