My husband and I were on the road most of the day today, but we caught snippets of Hillary's testimony (if you can call it that) throughout the day. This woman received more than 600 messages from State Department people in Benghazi, begging for increased security. She did nothing to protect them, and she claims that she didn't receive any of those 600 communications. There is also evidence that one of her aides informed her that Christopher Stevens was threatening to resign if security were not increased, so Clinton was 'getting the message' from multiple sources, and still refusing to act. Even if the 'not receiving the messages' part of that assertion is true (which we all know it is not), she was the head of the State Department, and it was up to her, and her alone, to see to it that important communications were brought to her attention. Despite her flailing and diverting blame, the buck stopped at her desk. This woman told both her her daughter and the prime minister of Egypt, within twenty-four hours of the massacre, that it had nothing to do with a video and everything to do with a terrorist attack. Yet she had the evil audacity to lie to the American people, and, even more unconscionable, to the families of America's dead heroes, in order to further her, and her president's, political ambitions. She dared to claim, in today's proceedings, that she has lost more sleep over the massacre than all of the people on the Benghazi committee combined. Outrageous! The only sleep this woman is capable of losing is as a result of potential threats to her wealth and power. The woman sat in front of a mirror and practiced every answer to every conceivable question that might be posed at today's hearings. She practiced her facial expressions, her feigned pain, her pretend compassion, and her concern for the victims, their families, and every American who has been pierced by the events of that terrible day. I have come to the conclusion that even her supporters, if they have more than a half dozen functioning brain cells, know that she is a self-serving, pathological liar. The fact that they still support her in spite of that wicked character trait is evidence of the fact that truth and justice are significantly lower on their list of priorities than promises of 'gifts' (be they political favors, wealth, power, entitlements, or the like). If there are enough such people to elect her next year, that fact alone will be sufficient to pound the last nail into America's coffin, because the advent of a Hillary Clinton presidency will serve as proof that a sufficient number of Americans have now decided that the character traits our Founders cautioned us to continue to revere, in order to preserve our freedoms and our children's freedoms, have now been declared irrelevant and passé.
