Call it the Ben Carson affect. Ben and Tenchu have their narrow field of expertise. They are used to taking their knowledge and experience to solve problems, perhaps even brilliantly so. The problem is, they feel they can do the same in fields that are totally disconnected from their own without any new knowledge. So Tenchu knows how water behaves in a glass. Or maybe a bowl. Apparently he really hasn't paid any attention to how it behaves in a pool, much less anything larger. He certainly hasn't contemplated the implication of tides. Or the Bay of Fundy. Or why, when the Canadians closed off a portion of the Bay on their side, it resulted in an increase in the tide of some portions of the American side by as much as 4 feet because it messed with the resonance in the Bay.
