Nevada Exploration (NGE-V) says new analytical results from eight drill holes at its Grass Valley project in Nevada "confirm the presence of a large, gold-bearing hydrothermal system consistent with the geological setting of a Carlin-style gold deposit." Investors ignored the fudge and lack of meaningful assays in the analytics, sending Nevada Exploration as high as 51 cents before it closed up 8.5 cents to 33.5 cents on 282,000 shares. Investors have been enthusiastic about the company since late August, when it was plodding along at just one-half cent, just before a 1:10 rollback.

Mr. Hodges, CEO, says the new data are important as it increases confidence in Nevada Exploration's promotion of Grass Valley as a Carlin lookalike. He says Grass Valley "represents one of the most compelling grassroots exploration projects in Nevada today," although as yet he says little about what he and his crew have planned for tomorrow and beyond. The company's current accounts were over $500,000 in the red at the end of July but Mr. Hodges did sell over $660,000 worth of five-cent shares at the end of August and the company converted $170,000 of debt to equity in early September.

Mr. Hodges has been drawing a sensible $120,000 (U.S.) annual salary as the company's CEO and chairman, and Mr. Tullar earns a similar sum as the company's chief operating officer and vice-president of exploration. Both are eligible for cash bonuses of up to $36,000 (U.S.) per year. Neither has received one in recent years but if their news from Grass River can keep investors interested, Nevada Exploration's shareholders and directors might be feeling more generous in the future.
