The paid version of MWB can detect ransomware, and I think there is no other software that can make that claim. I have the paid version on all my machines. The paid version constantly monitors your machine; the free version does not.

Yes... Antivirus and Malware protection are separate issues, but unlike Antivirus programs, Malwarebytes dominates the field for Anti-malware unlike Antivirus options where popularity is far more varied.
