Certainly not an expert on proxy companies like ISS but by virtue of what they do, I'd think the reputation risk is fairly high taking a position without researching it first, especially the market leader. Maybe they can be bought like a rating agency can at times but similar concept, impartiality is all they have. They may not understand SDN but I would be surprised if they didn't do their homework before pressing send.
